New Aging: Challenging the Myths of Aging

Wellness, Nurturing, and the Self

As clinicians and caretakers we freely offer our energy to others. Often the energy coming to us does not balance the energy going out. To be able to nurture and care for others in a sane and intelligent way we need to nurture ourselves. This is a skill that is seldom taught, but always needed.
This workshop is designed to teach the skills need to refuel ourselves. The workshop setting will offer facilities for wellness renewal such as massage, mineral springs, exercise, meditation, and beautiful surroundings. The workshop itself will offer ideas and exercises that will help the clinician and caretaker to set appropriate limits, identify their burnout index, and learn how to be well on a daily basis.
The atmosphere will be contemplative, nurturing and fun. Awareness exercises, art, music, and movement will be used. We will co-create a space where ideas, feelings and problems can be shared and lightened.

Participate in a workshop where real learning, caring and renewal can occur.

Ceremony for Divorce : Developing a Personal Ritual

Many face divorce. Although Divorce has become common and can be viewed as one of life’s growth stages, it is cloaked in secrecy and shame. Discussing divorce with children, family, and friends is often difficult. This workshop is designed to aid in the process of divorce by allowing open discussion and by developing a ceremony to mark this life passage. The ceremony one develops can be private or participatory. We will tune into our unique needs and use already established formats to develop a specific ritual.

New Aging : Challenging the Myths of Aging

As we age, our nature and our place in the world changes radically. This time of life can be challenging in many ways. We can feel disconnected from many of the things with which we previously identified, and we may also haves a sense of loss of power. For many there is an inward looking that was not possible before. Often these states are not recognized or valued.
This workshop will offer the opportunity to explore the experiences that are present in this process of aging. We will address the issues of our aging generation that cannot and should not be ignored. We will use our life experiences, structured exercises, discussions and collective wisdom, to examine our needs and desires. We will do this by creating a space that nurtures us, is not too serious, and allows for co-creation.

Mothers & Daughters : Crossing the Generations

As women, the relationships we have with our Mother, Daughters and Grandmothers are the most formative of our lives. These relationships often are a mix of joy, regret, and guilt. This workshop invites you --- mothers, daughters and grandmothers --- to come and explore your matriarchal lineage. By co- creating a safe space we can explore our past and present and begin to better know ourselves. One of the focuses of this workshop will be to honor our relationships. We will transform guilt and regret into acceptance. Awareness exercises, music, art, and movement will be used as part of the process that also includes an introduction to the psychological/sociological literature on mothers and daughters. The goal of the workshop is for participants to gain knowledge about the influence of their matriarchal line on themselves, and therefore on others. We would love to see both family groups and individuals as participants.

Participate in a workshop that has been developed to be collaborative, dynamic, and experiential. We will use a contemplative and nurturing setting to move from non-useful beliefs to understanding.
